Greetings!
I go by Raidn Knox
A self-proclaimed, not-formally-art-educated and stubborn artist from Sweden. I wasn’t interested in art from an early age, nor very good at it frankly. But, as a teenager needing external validation, my art-start was simply the fusion between a fascination by tattoos and wanting to be good at something.
I paint for a ridiculous amount of reasons
These days it’s mainly to reflect, process and communicate. Though, it used to be a vital escape from a reality that wasn’t the nicest to experience. Due to years of mental health struggles I needed moments of distraction from my own head. Eventually that escape became a way to acknowledge reality.
Painting made things a little better.
What I get from my art.
( Among other things )
-
Communication
Talking can be exhausting, while staying focused is a challenge. Art allows me to communicate on my terms.
-
Peace and quiet
Due to having a bit of a chaotic brain configuration, I tend to drain much needed energy. Painting gives me a moment to focus and recharge.
-
Self Reflection
I can ponder and reflect while painting. It gives me time to understand myself without trying to tell me how to feel.
-
Letting Go
While painting I can spend hours on one thing, only to realise it doesn’t work. It can be discouraging but it’s not wasted time. You just try something else.
-
Patience
It doesn’t matter if a painting takes 2 hours or 200. It is done when it is done. Trusting the process allows me to be in the moment.
-
The Feeling
Usually there’s a specific feeling that dictates the direction of a painting, while music and storytelling enhances it.
